Radon – a silent health risk that requires continuous monitoring
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking, yet it is invisible and odourless. Spot measurements give a snapshot but miss seasonal and diurnal variations. Continuous LoRaWAN radon monitoring with Sensor-Online provides 24/7 data, trend alerts and the documentation needed for regulatory compliance.
How LoRaWAN radon monitoring works
- A LoRaWAN radon sensor is placed in the room to be monitored, typically lowest floors or basement areas
- The sensor reports Bq/m3 readings at configured intervals to Sensor-Online
- Sensor-Online visualises trends, calculates rolling averages and sends alerts when levels exceed thresholds
- Compliance reports are generated automatically in PDF or CSV format
Applications
- Schools and kindergartens – mandatory radon measurement under Swedish law
- Workplaces – employer obligation to ensure radon below 200 Bq/m3
- Residential buildings and BRF – documentation for property transactions
- Remediation verification – confirm ventilation measures are working
