ND-MBX Ultrasonic Distance / Level Sensor

What is the ND-MBX? The ND-MBX is a non-contact ultrasonic distance and level sensor based on time-of-flight measurement. Available in 0.5–10 m and 0.3–5 m variants with 1 mm resolution and 1 % accuracy, the contact-free design eliminates fouling, biofilm and sediment problems that plague pressure transducers — ideal for water level, open water surfaces, flood monitoring, wastewater management and tank level applications connected to the yDoc ML-525 datalogger.

Applications

Where the ND-MBX is used

Water level

Long-term water-level monitoring of streams, channels and reservoirs without contact with the water.

Open water surface

Reservoirs, lakes, rivers and harbours where pressure sensors would foul.

Flood monitoring

Real-time level data for flood early-warning and stormwater systems.

Wastewater management

Level monitoring in pumping stations, manholes and treatment plant tanks.

Tank level

Industrial liquid storage tanks, silos and IBCs without piercing the vessel.

Integration

Powered by the yDoc ML-525 datalogger

The ND-MBX connects directly to the yDoc ML-525 datalogger. The yDoc powers the sensor, schedules measurements, stores readings locally and transmits them to the Sensor-Online platform via 4G/LTE-M, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, satellite or Ethernet — with up to 10 years of battery life.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the ND-MBX

What does the ND-MBX measure?+
The ND-MBX is a water monitoring sensor that non-contact ultrasonic level sensor for tanks, wells, open channels and stormwater. Robust for harsh environments where contact sensors would foul or fail. It connects directly to the yDoc ML-525 datalogger for reliable remote data acquisition.
When to choose ultrasonic over pressure?+
The ND-MBX is well suited for drinking water, wastewater & stormwater, surface water & ecology and similar applications. For your specific use case, our application engineers can recommend the right sensor and configuration.
How does it integrate with the yDoc ML-525?+
The ND-MBX communicates with the yDoc ML-525 datalogger over its native protocol. The yDoc powers the sensor, schedules measurements, stores readings locally and transmits them to the Sensor-Online platform over 4G/LTE-M, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, satellite or Ethernet.
