Secure and scalable
A secure and scalable IoT platform, from 1 to 100,000 sensors
The same platform and the same code from your first sensor to 100,000. Start small, grow over time, and stay in control of security, including installation inside your own intranet with no internet access.
500+ customers · 100,000+ active sensors · Trusted by Akademiska Hus, Vattenfall, LKAB and HSB
Built to scale
Growth means more sensors, not a new system.
Same code at every size
Run one sensor or 100,000 on the same platform. Nothing to rebuild as you grow.
Start small, grow over time
Begin with a pilot. Contact us about the Starter Pack for the exact scope and price.
Time-series storage on InfluxDB
Sensor readings are stored in InfluxDB, a database built for time-series data.
A growth path without re-platforming
The platform stays the same at every stage.
Pilot
A handful of sensors to prove the idea.
Roll-out
Hundreds of sensors across sites.
Scale
Thousands of sensors and more users.
Large systems
Up to 100,000 sensors on the same code.
Security built in
Protection at the interface, in access and in how you deploy.
JWT token authentication
The REST API uses JWT token authentication, with controlled permissions per token.
Documented API
The REST API is documented in Swagger, so integrations are clear and testable.
Encrypted transmission
Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and TLS.
Role-based access
Create individual roles, and sign in with ID and password, single sign-on (SSO) or Active Directory.
Separated customers
In a multi-tenant setup, each tenant has its own data and users.
You own your data
You decide how your data is used, and you can run the platform on your own servers.
How we work with security
Clear about where we are today.
ISO 27001
We work according to ISO 27001. We are not certified at present.
NIS2
We are working on applying NIS2 in how we develop and operate the platform. NIS2 applies to organisations, and each organisation is responsible for its own compliance.
Cyber Resilience Act
We are working on applying the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in our product development.
On-premise with no internet access
Keep the whole platform inside your intranet.
Install Sensor-Online on your own servers with access only to your intranet. With no connection to the internet there is less exposed to attack and fewer external providers to depend on, which supports organisations working with NIS2 and similar requirements. Optional services such as e-mail or SMS alerts and AI analysis use external services. Compliance remains each organisation’s own responsibility.
Compare SaaS and on-premise →SaaS or isolated on-premise
Choose the level of isolation you need.
| SaaS | On-premise, intranet only | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Hosted and operated by us | On your own servers |
| Internet access | Required | Not required, the intranet is enough |
| Best for | A fast start, pilots and growing portfolios | Municipalities, water utilities and industry with strict data control |

How many sensors can the platform handle?
From a single sensor up to 100,000 sensors, on the same code. You grow by adding sensors, not by changing system.
Which database stores the sensor data?
Sensor readings are stored in InfluxDB, a time-series database.
How is the API secured?
The REST API is documented in Swagger and uses JWT token authentication, with controlled permissions per token. Traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and TLS.
Can it run without internet access?
Yes. You can install Sensor-Online on-premise with access only to your intranet. Optional services such as e-mail or SMS alerts and AI analysis use external services.
Do I need to change system as I grow?
No. It is the same platform and the same code whether you run a pilot or a large installation.
Is Sensor-Online ISO 27001 certified?
We work according to ISO 27001 but are not certified at present.
Do you work with NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act?
Yes. We are working on applying both NIS2 and the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). NIS2 applies to organisations, so your own compliance remains your organisation’s responsibility. The on-premise option can reduce the number of external providers involved.
